PURPOSE OF JOB:

To support and assist external digital agencies in setting up public-facing websites on the NHS Choices platform in order to facilitate campaigns developed on behalf of the Department of Health.
Provide continued support throughout the campaign lifecycle and manage decommissioning and archiving of sites as they are retired.
Provide expert knowledge of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, and in particular the web publishing aspects of MOSS 2007. This will involve development of master pages and page layouts and supporting CSS style sheets.
Ensuring continued access to the CMS system by external agency staff. Assist agency in re-using NHS Choices content where required.
Support the use of our suite of custom web parts which provide dynamic behaviour, and are used to surface features of the underlying NHS Choices platform. In some cases this will require modifying our existing web parts or creating new ones. Where there is a need for customised XHTML, XSLT style sheets will need to be modified as required.
Provide assistance to agency staff in ensuring compliance of campaigns sites with accessibility standards as required by all DH sites. Assist agencies in complying with our editorial standards and conventions.
Act as a technical liaison between agencies, DH campaigns product owners, and the development team, and provide additional development support.


KNOWLEDGE

Expert in MOSS 2007 publishing site development and administration
Knowledge of the SharePoint Object Model.
Good knowledge of C#, .NET Framework, ASP.NET, Web Parts development.
Good knowledge of HTML, CSS, XSLT and other web technologies.
Solid understanding of web accessibility.
