There’s an opportunity for an experienced Automation Applications Engineer to provide automation and DCS expertise to the development and configuration of an integrated platform management system for a major naval programme. The role You’ll be expected to provide distributed control system architecture on the project, to analyse and evaluate the architecture to ensure achievement of the necessary high integrity, availability and survivability. Other duties to include: - Negotiating, specifying and managing the interfaces between subsystems and other computer systems within the network infrastructure. - Justifying specification, design, product selection of architecture components, interfaces and protocols, through analysis reports and trade-off studies. - Conducting technical reviews to gain acceptance. Required skills: You’ll need to have experience in PLC programming, DCS and SCADA products along with some serial communications and redundancy expertise. A good understanding of structured design, quality, test, acceptance processes and standards will also be needed along with knowledge of marine, defence or industrial control and instrumentation applications.
