Graduate / Junior Software Developer to work as part of a team developing and supporting applications that are used on the companies manufacturing systems. The applications vary from legacy VB6 Applications (Which are being phased out where possible) to applications written in VB.NET 2005/2008, C# 2005/2008 and an ASP.NET System for managing Order/Job Entry and Control on the shop floor, all of which have a SQL Server 2000 back-end database.

Some out of hours support of the system will be required during peak periods or times when business critical orders are being processed, so some flexibility in this respect would be useful.

As a business, the company have manufacturing lines setup in Brazil, and Iran as well as the UK which is the manufacturing headquarters for Europe, they also support our CEM's in China with bespoke applications for product testing, therefore there is sometimes the requirement for overseas travel as part of the role.

The other side of the role is looking after our Customer Support tools which are used to configure our products when they are in the field, such a performing meter readings, updating configurations, etc. This is a combination of a VB6 Application for our older products and for our new products a .NET Version is required, both of which use an MSDE 2000 and/or 2005 Back-End.

Since a lot of the applications vary between VB.NET and C# skills in either or both of these areas would be of benefit, but more importantly a willingness to cross-train and work between the two is important.

Successful candidates will have gain some commercial experience either during their industry placment at University or in an entry level post in a commercial environment covering some of the following skills:
