KEY SKILLS – High level Linux admin & troubleshooting skills with scripting, some knowledge of SCSi and fiber channel technology, networking and SAN. Fluency in Spanish or French required.
An exciting opportunity to join a leading player in the IT Storage field. The company have a wide product range and global customer base and are well placed to further improve their market share following a recent restructuring and acquisition.
The current opportunity is for a premium support engineer to deal with high level technical escalations from European clients. You must have a strong Linux background (also scripting) as well as understanding of SCSi and SAN. This is a classic high level support role where only the most complicated queries will be passed on to you. You will be troubleshooting technical queries related mainly to Linux, UNIX, WIN, SAN, Backup & Software. All support will be carried out over the phone/ via Email so you must have excellent written and spoken communication skills. The team in Northampton are supporting EMEA based clients and your role will be supporting English and additional European language French, Spanish or Italian speaking customers. You may occasionally travel to client sites in Europe and to the HQ in the US.
Suitable applicants will have good troubleshooting skills and be comfortable working with the following- Linux and ideally one flavour of UNIX- Solaris, HP/UX, AIX, IRIX) and Microsoft O/S and networking. Any storage related experience i.e. SAN, SCSI, Fibre channels, tape drives or libraries and some backup technologies eg. Legato Networker, Veritas Netbackup, Backup Exec Brocade would be useful. All the specific product training will be provided. This is the senior role within the team so you are expected to mentor and lead more junior members.
