Position: Chief Systems Engineer Salary: £45-65,000 plus car Location: Loughborough 

This is a rare opportunity to take the position of Chief Systems Engineer within one of the UK’s most influential Research and Development facilities driving forward advances in Defence Systems Engineering fields using the most capable and talented systems engineers from both commercial and academic sectors. You will be responsible for the leadership and management across a number of projects whilst also influencing the longer-term strategies of the facility. Key Responsibilities ·To lead the development of a world class systems engineering technical capability within the facility, with responsibility for identifying, and establishing this capability and applying the result across the wider systems engineering community. ·A secondary objective is to contribute to steering key research activities, for example, by developing the necessary technical vision, to ensure that we have an appropriate in-house capability of sufficient quality and innovation to compete for and win work-share in such company wide activities. ·To lead the small team of Scientists who will undertake and/or lead the most complex, challenging systems engineering tasks within the facility. ·From time to time, the jobholder will be expected to manage projects in his/her own right as part of the role. ·To manage ad hoc strategic bid teams and technology acquisition activities as required. ·To review programmes and proposals for engineering excellence and compliance with customer technical requirements. While the role requires a strong technical content, managerial and business influencing skills are paramount.
