Develops long range computing platform and communication architecture and strategy. Provides company-wide direction on the use of emerging technologies. Defines new approaches for computer and communication technology including hardware, software, productivity tools, databases, and multimedia. Define and manage the architectural roadmap of the technology architecture that supports various business units. Develops and implements plans for migration of technologies to necessary future directions, consolidation of hardware platforms and data centres, and optimizing maintenance and support contracts. Establishment and monitors IT standards as follows: Hardware and operating system standards Office automation software and utility software standards Voice and Data Telecommunications network and equipment standards Documentation procedures for different types of systems Identification of system maintenance standards and procedures Database platform and development standards and procedures Ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, rules, ordinances or other requirements in the development of product and service specifications, contract terms and conditions, and program management. Establishment of policies and procedures for ensuring integrity, availability, and confidentiality on a global basis. Establishment of policies and procedures for the purchasing, licensing or leasing technology resources, including computer hardware and software, and telecommunications services and equipment. Interacts with other IT and business unit management impacted by the global enterprise architecture, including group functions. This includes understanding business strategies and plans and the implications for architecture. Resolve architectural conflicts across a global organization in differing economies and cultures. Maintains current knowledge of technical innovations in mainframe, minicomputer, LAN, WAN, personal computing, industrial plant floor information technology, CAD/CAM engineering technology, and develops plans to utilize appropriate technologies in support of future company business operations and opportunities. Maintains external links to other companies in our industry to gain competitive assessments and share information, where appropriate. Desired candidates will have at least 15 years of overall experience, with evidence of progress through various positions of increasing responsibility. At least 5 years should have been spent in a lead architect/managerial position in design/development within a large product development organization. Experience should include a focus on linking architectural service-oriented architectures and event-driven architectures that are scaleable, high performing, secure, and distributable software products. Experience in leading an SAP Enterprise implementation, or significant knowledge of SAP, is required. Successful candidates will have a quality undergraduate degree in Computer Sciences or a related field. An advanced degree would be desirable. Proven program and project management experience
