A prestigious FTSE 100 company is looking for an experienced Senior Developer who is ambitious and confident. This is an excellent opportunity to work for a blue chip company.

You will work within a unit as part of a small team of developers, under the guidance of a Solutions Architect, responsible for the development and maintenance of a variety of software products mainly used by local government customers. These include a functionally rich CRM system, web authentication module (enabling web access of back office applications), CRM integration e-forms and other web applications.

The successful candidate will be flexible, enthusiastic; can manage time effectively, a good problem solving and work on under their own initiative.

This role is envisaged as being the first step towards taking over full-time as the unit's solution architect, based on suitability and performance over the first twelve months.

Essential Skills
• Experience in JEE development – esp. EJBs, JDBC.
• Familiar with Java 5
• Experience of coding .jsp web pages
• Knowledge of XML and web services (AXIS)
• Comprehensive database knowledge / skills including stored
• procedures, rules, indexes, complex SQL
• Experience of configuring / maintaining tomcat / jboss applications
• Able to easily pick up and follow required design guidelines for a development project. These may differ between applications and product releases
• Be aware of common industry standards and coding best-practices within your disciplines and apply them as required

Desired Skills
• Eclipse rich-client development platform
• Spring framework (web-based development)
• Knowledge of Hibernate framework
• Experience of working with UML
