Lead/Senior designer- Derby- £neg


A games company specialising in the production of cross platform connected entertainment. We deliver a mixture of original and licensed content on platforms as diverse as mobile to next generation console and are looking to grow our small select team to support current and pending projects.

Job Profile
The role will involve the creation and maintenance of detailed game design documentation and hands on level design and implementation. The role will also involve liaison with the production team and senior management and pitching game concepts to internal departments.

Key Responsibilities

To aid the design team in creating and documenting new games ideas for both original IP and licensed properties
Create and document ideas for game play ideas - including level designs and event breakdowns as required
Suggest improvements to existing game ideas and features
Identify, analyze and resolve design problems
Present ideas to the other team members and team leaders
Be aware of the needs of the target audience and be able to deliver designs to satisfy those needs
Work with other disciplines to ensure successful implementation of the game design
Derby based, but some domestic travel is expected.


Key Skills required:

Excellent creative and concept skills are essential for this role
Be up to date on the latest trends in gaming and social networking
Good communication skills - written and oral
Good understanding of the Game Design process and methodologies
Confident self starter with good motivational skills
Ability to fit into a dynamic, creative team environment
Relevant games industry experience
Other Desirable skills & experience
Published titles
Experience with current game development processes
Enthusiasm for and knowledge of video games in general
