Principal/Lead Software Engineer £45-50k + exc. benefits + tax-free relocation Avon This leading engineering company are looking for an experienced embedded software engineer to join their successful safety-critical software development teams. The successful candidate will have a good background in embedded software, and experience of a high-integrity/safety-critical software development area such as defence, aerospace, rail, medical, automotive, etc. This is a role combining client facing requirements, with the ability to be a technical focus for demanding projects. Required: - Real-time embedded C, C++ or Ada software development experience - Interest in working through full software lifecycle – from design, through coding and testing - UML design knowledge or knowledge of structured design is desirable but not essential - Team lead/technical lead experience desirable - Safety-critical standard experience - MISRA, SIL-2/4, IEC, DO-178B,etc. - Good communications skills, able to act as a representative of the company when dealing with clients - Experience of safety-related domains (defence, aerospace, rail, medical, automotive, etc.) - Experience of CMMI compliant software development processes would be ideal Strong estimation skills, able to defend estimates both internally and externally. The successful candidate will lead the team design and development of code for new products, as well as taking responsibility for existing code. You will be the initial point of contact with customers, working to gather requirements and then providing a technical lead for the project team throughout design and delivery of projects. You will lead be able to interface directly with senior management and become a key member of the design department, helping guide the technical direction of the business.
