We are moving to ORACLE RAC and as our Oracle DBA, you will be responsible for the support and maintenance of ALL Oracle databases and associated middleware within the production and development estates AND for ensuring that allocated work packages are delivered. It is a key security requirement that the individual in this role obtains ‘Full SC Clearance' status to fully undertake this role. This should be applied for at the earliest opportunity. Failure to obtain ‘Full SC Clearance' will deem the individual unsuitable for the role. You will: Provide support for issues relating to Oracle databases, Oracle Application Server and Oracle Applications middleware for both the production and development environments Assist in the production of detailed resource plans, ensuring work packages such as change requests, problem reports, requests for assistance, impact assessments are delivered to agreed quality standards and timescales. Provide technical expertise and guidance to less experienced colleagues. Assist in the design of NEW database requirements and the implementation of the physical database design in partnership with the Software Development function. Identification and implementation of new working methods, initiatives and technologies to improve the level of service provided by the team to both the business and other IT support teams. Create and edit Unix scripts that enhance the monitoring and support of the Oracle/ Unix system You should have: Good interpersonal and communication skills Planning and organisational skills Ability to work toward challenging deadlines and make commercial sensitive decisions Strong technical DBA skills, including Oracle Applications Experience of large mission-critical databases Familiarity with recent versions of Oracle in both Unix and Windows environments Knowledge of change management and problem reporting systems Knowledge of the Unix shell and Unix scripting. Oracle database, versions 8i, 9i and 10g Oracle RAC environments Oracle Application Server 10g Oracle Applications 11i, using both Forms and Self-Service Multi-tier systems on both Solaris and Linux RMAN Installation, upgrade and cloning Performance monitoring and tuning Understanding of Sun Solaris 2.9, Linux and Windows based operating systems
