JOB DESCRIPTION: Area Sales Manager / Business Development Manager : Motors and Drive solutions to OEMs.
This is a home based, consultative, area sales management role. Covering the North East region, you will be managing a wide range of accounts from various sectors including medical and defense. Around 80% of the job is area sales account management and business development of those existing accounts across the patch that currently turns over 3.5m. You will be selling a mix of electrical components / motors / drives and bespoke engineering solutions and adaptations.
The sales cycle can be two to three years in length - connecting with projects at concept stage, selling to designers / project managers. Average sales order values 100k to 200k. New business development / new area sales is a mix of self-generation, networking and following of leads from marketing (print / web / exhibitions). You will make occasional trips to principals (alongside customers) in Germany and Switzerland.
PERSON SPECIFICATION: Area Sales Manager / Business Development Manager : Motors and Drive solutions to OEMs.
To be considered for this Area Sales Management role, you will either have:
A proven track record of sales / account management success with an engineering background - selling some sort of technical product in a consultative sales style.
You're an Engineer with some customer facing experience (perhaps in a service / applications / project or design capacity) who wants to move into a full sales / account management role.
Regardless, you should be technically credible and able to manage customer relationships at a variety of levels (from engineer to board).
You will be happy to manage projects and customer accounts over large order values and long lead times.
We're a well-established distributor and manufacturer of high quality, precision DC motors and the design / manufacture of bespoke drive solutions. Profitable and stable, the company has both sales and large manufacturing premises in the UK.
It is highly likely you will have worked in any of the following roles and/or markets, and worked with the following products and/or services: Area Sales Manager, Sales Engineer, Engineering Sales Manager, Account Manager, Business Development Manager, Technical Sales, Applications Engineer : electrical components, DC motors, drives, engineering solutions, bespoke design.
