The Applications Development and Support e-Services Team are part of my clients ICT Application and End User Services (AEUS).
The Team are responsible for the development and support of a wide variety of in-house developed web-based solutions and a number of 3rd party legacy solutions predominantly around the Microsoft .NET platform.
Our vision is to have a highly skilled team of Developers providing efficient, maintainable and high quality code that delivers fit for purpose business solutions across the organisation.
Technologies in-use include SharePoint, ASP.NET, C#, MVC, Web Services, WCF and Rest API.
This is a technical role within the e-Services Team with a focus on:
the delivery of high quality code/solutions
Providing input into the design and implementation of best practice patterns and approaches to web-based application development.
supporting the Lead Developer in developing the technical skills and competencies within the Team, providing mentoring and guidance on best practice and standards where appropriate
Another important aspect of the role is the provision of an effective support function which will involve the handling of Service Desk requests, incidents and faults and ensuring that services are restored in the minimum amount of time and within agreed SLAs.Good communication skills and the ability to explain the technologies and how they work to a wide range of people are essential.
More specifically, the purpose of this role will be to:
Consistently develop high quality, efficient and supportable code.
Assist in the creation, development and maintenance of a professional and highly skilled development team within the organisation.
Provide day-to-day support of technical solutions provided by the e-Services Team ensuring incidents and faults are dealt with in a timely manner. This will involve:
Monitoring, managing, investigating and resolving incidents and problems in live systems and services, reported to the Service Desk in accordance with departmental procedures. Keeping customers informed and working with others to minimise deterioration in service.
Developing actions to prevent re-occurrence.
Assist in the development and implementation of application lifecycle management patterns and practices.
Assist in periodic reviews to ensure the Development Team are adopting best practice in coding and testing.
Work with colleagues across ICT Services, third party suppliers, business stakeholders and project managers to build and test fit for purpose solutions.
Produce and maintain accurate documentation in relation to support, process and training/guidance.
Provide advice and maintain specific security controls in relation to area of technical responsibility. Monitor security and take immediate action in the event of a breach.
