This technology is deployed to host our mission critical services within E.M.S.A, and has a compelling track record in availability, scalability and reliability. The z/OS team is made up of over 150 permanent staff and are highly specialised in Z, TCP/IP, IMS, CICS, DB2, Websphere and MQ.
Mainframe Security Engineer working in Mainframe Infrastructure team to technical support, testing and implementation of change to the Banks live IBM Mainframe systems. Changes handled include planned and emergency work. Other tasks include Problem investigation and resolution, providing consultancy on z/OS security related settings, processes and procedures, driving optimisation of mainframe security and co-ordinating with infrastructure and application teams.
Infrastructure Support/Project Implementation:
Acts as a contact point for queries relating to Mainframe Security products including provisioning, advice and guidance.
Advises and completes infrastructure related tasks and provide technical explanations of findings.
Provides assistance to colleagues while working on projects requiring Infrastructure support.
Provides comprehensive technical verbal updates of project status to team and produce non-technical written updates for project managers and business.
Represents Mainframe area at project meetings and provide any inputs to help plan projects.
Provides inputs required to support attestations and assessing compliance to controls
Installs, deploys and maintains Mainframe security tools
Assists colleagues in complex changes by following agreed methodologies.
Proactive identification of potential major incidents and security vulnerabilities. Provides the governance, technical authority, leadership and direction necessary for the resolution of technical issues.
Promptly delivers on all activities and tasks assigned to them within the SLA to avoid any missed deadlines.
Provides in-depth verbal and/or written updates to customers on change progress
Proactively analyses changes and ensure the more effective resolution is selected to resolve.
Assists with the resolution of complex change tasks, problems and/or incidents.
Works as a Mainframe security consultant for all change implementation processes, challenges other colleagues changes by sharing personal experience. Clearly identifies the risk and impact if the change goes wrong. Plans and leads major implementations.
Has good communication skills and is able to adapt communication style based on the audience
Strong stakeholder management, analytical and problem solving skills
Provides expert guidance on Mainframe security to infrastructure teams and application/service community
Uses own initiative to make decisions on how best resolve incidents and/or problems to mitigate impact on service.
Runs and contributes to SME technical forums within and outside of organisation. Fully understands the platform and suggests ideas on how infrastructure design can help to positively drive the Bank's financial state. Has significant latitude for influencing key internal and external stakeholders' decisions.

Technical Knowledge and Expertise:
Excellent understanding of Mainframe operating system tools and z/OS component areas
Has decent experience within z/OS Security environment, RACF and IT security
Subject matter expert in security processes and procedures including Security Policy / Role Based Access Control (RBAC) / Privileged Access / Recertification / Break-glass and Emergency Processes / Alerting and Monitoring.
Acts as a coordinator for all major infrastructures out of hours support activities. Provides input in planning stage and can execute recovery actions if needed.
Provides direction for technology within specialist area. Demonstrates broad-based view of business issues and activities.
