You are probably thinking... 'why would I want to work for a Start-Up?'. After all... surely there are loads of risks? Surely there will be limited progression? Surely its a bad idea?
You might be surprised to hear me say that, although there will be risks, the same can be said about anything. But joining a Start-Up certainly won't limit your progression and it is anything but a bad idea. This opportunity is a perfect example of that...
I am working with a Tech Start-Up in the North East who are looking to recruit a Senior Software Engineer to come in and essentially grow a development team from scratch. This is the chance to put your own stamp on an innovative Cloud-based product and gain solid equity in a growing organisation. You will be given genuine autonomy and creative control to help shape the way the solution is rolled out to a wider customer base and will get the chance to recruit your own team in your own image... not bad eh?
The product itself is based around the Microsoft technology stack (ASP.NET MVC, Azure, C#) but the organisation are exploring a variety of other technologies including MongoDB, Amazon Web Services and Xamarin. The core focus is based around a 'quality first' approach so software development and you will be expected to adhere to coding standards/best practice as well as driving the use of Agile development methodologies throughout the business.
What they expect from you is simple (I have used bullet points to make it read better...):
* Experience with the Microsoft technology stack (ASP.NET MVC, Entity Framework, SQL, WCF). * Commercial experience working with Web API and RESTful Web Services. * Understanding of core Object-Oriented principles and Test Driven Development. A wider understanding of Agile/Scrum is also highly beneficial. * Experience scoping, building and supporting Cloud applications using either Azure or Amazon Web Services. * Experience supporting both Microsoft and Linux infrastructure. * Understanding of Microservices architecture. * Understanding of common Design Patterns. * Experience with Xamarin cross-platform mobile development. * Experience mentoring/coaching and some demonstrable leadership experience.
What you will gain in return is a genuine opportunity to innovate and influence the technology roadmap for a truly exciting product.
