Job Description

The main purpose of this opportunity is to provide a single point of contact for Boeing Defence UK Limited ("BDUK") estate with the responsibility for owning and controlling Software Licence Management and Software Application Installation Management across the business and providing the information required enabling an organisation to remain legally compliant. The position also includes responsibility for providing advice and guidance to the Organisations users and reporting on adherence to IT Software usage and Licence purchase policies.

Responsibilities:

Software Asset Management for BDUK is responsible for defining and executing against the following activities:

- The definition and oversight of the governance structures and developing/delivering policy and processes for managing the enterprise computing software asset lifecycle, supporting procurement, and drawing in leaders from across BDUK
- Operating said governance in order to ensure BDUK has full control over its enterprise computing software assets and associated licencing
- Generating interest; articulating, formulating, measuring, and promoting the value delivered as a result of world class governance of IT software assets
- Working hand-in-hand with Software Solutions Specialists; provide end-to-end provision of complex software quotes/cost modeling etc., expertly leveraging vendor licensing vehicles to the mutual benefit of our clients for all key or nominated software vendors.
- Maintenance of relevant customer software catalogues and pricing
- Assist with the bidding process including response documents such as RFI, RFP and full proposal.
- Drive partnership and collaboration with key vendors.
- Produce Software Compliance Reports at organisational level as required utilising data from the discovery data, and SNOW tooling.
- Producing monthly software installed reports for publication to departmental mangers.
- Produce monthly Service Management Report and statistics for Application Owners.
- Produce monthly SAM Reports for the appropriate nominated clients.
- Recommend remedial actions to the Business for resolving under-compliance
- Leading the management and strategy of software vendor audits
- Provide vendor licensing expertise to internal customers.
- Understand the key roles and functions of all ITIL disciplines. Drive the two-way knowledge transfer of processes across disciplines that provide demonstrable benefit.
- Able to assimilate and interpret technical language. Has a good knowledge of current technology.
- Manage the internal service acceptance process and work with relevant teams to ensure successful transfer of service into delivery following the service acceptance process.
- Identifying and implementing opportunities to optimize software licenses used in the enterprise computing environment
- Developing and communicating enterprise software asset management policy, system and process governance reporting
- With the Software Asset Management Lead, establishing the IT Asset Management program development, implementation, and delivery - particularly as it pertains to enterprise software
- Leading the Load/validation of software licensing/purchasing and license entitlement data into the organization's software asset management system/process (SNOW)
- Leading and influencing the strategic development and daily operation of the organization's software asset management processes and systems (SNOW) and related (SAP, Microsoft, etc.)
- Leading the definition of the governance structures; supporting and conducting audits of software licensing compliance (as necessary) to validate/prove the system/process effectiveness and accuracy
- Leading the development of policy and processes for managing the software asset lifecycle for software used in the enterprise computing environment
- Leading the design and production of enterprise software asset related reports both pro-actively (dashboard, inventory reports, etc.) and as needed/requested (ad hoc reports)
- Supporting the Software Asset Management Lead with the BDUK IT Asset Management program development, implementation, and delivery
- Contributing to any IT Asset Management related projects
- Leading the planning, monitoring, and recording of enterprise software assets to ensure alignment with software license and software maintenance agreements
- Contributing to the growth and development of the Asset Management capability
- Working in conjunction with the Application Owners to establish the end-to-end software asset management scope, service level objectives, roles and responsibilities, and inventory, and cost specific to their region
- Liaises with all levels of the organization with regard to the rollout and on-going management of the software asset management process, policies, and procedures
- Partnering with key software asset management stakeholders, educating, negotiating, and influencing them on options and alternatives
- Leading initiatives to find opportunities to do things better, faster, smarter, and in a more cost-effective fashion
- Demonstrates excellent timekeeping and time management, particularly when undertaking multiple or varied tasks. Performs responsibilities without prompting. (E.g. OOO, timesheet etc.) Able to balance responsibilities between virtual and own team requirement.
- Drives outcomes that enable tangible value for our customers Experience in coaching and mentoring other in their performance towards objectives and in helping them develop towards their tasks and career goals

The position will report to the Supply Chain and Procurement Manager

Qualifications

- Industry knowledge across multiple software vendors not just Microsoft.
- Solid understanding and proven track record in software licensing solutions
- An ability to spot, qualify and leverage new licensing opportunities
- A strong understanding of technology, emerging technologies and the broader market outside software
- The ability to develop long term relationships as a trusted partner for BDUK customers
- The ability to drive internal collaboration and lead virtual teams

Desirable:

- Software Asset Management Qualifications
- Experience of using the SNOW Asset Manager Service
