Our client based in Midsomer Norton is a fast growing small company which uses an infrastructure of computerised systems and websites as key resources. There is a multi-disciplinary, team approach to running and developing the business as processes often span several functional areas.
The company has several WordPress websites that are a mix of e-commerce and information/web presence sites. Currently, these are managed externally and the main purpose of this role is to bring that management in-house.
The webmaster will be responsible for:
-the functionality and appearance of the public websites
-Website management and maintenance, this includes a range of elements including:
- Content management for SEO compliance - Monitoring uptime and investigating downtime occurrences - Plugin management, updating as new versions are released - Setting up and checking the backup and restore routines - Maintaining website security
Digitalising and formatting marketing prepared creatively so that it is presented appropriately for:
- Standard web information pages - Outbound campaign landing pages - PR/Advertising - E-collateral
The Webmaster is a key member of the team and will need to work closely with:
- The Managing Director - The Marketing Manager - The operations team - The external web developer agents - The external hosting provider - The SEO and PPC agents
The Webmaster must be able to prioritise work and activity, organise and schedule other people and their tasks and develop realistic project/action plans. End of month routines also needs to be established and followed.
Make suggestions and/or take actions to reduce or mitigate risk. Asks for assistance when required.
Information such as security, uptime and performance need to be collated and reported to the senior management team on monthly basis.
Degree level or equivalent in IT or Web Design
- 3-5 years' experience in website management. - Advanced experience in website content design. - Experience in custom coding of WordPress plug-ins, CSS, (X) HTML. - Familiarity with browser testing and debugging. - Knowledge in website security, backup routines and maintenance.
