Solution Analyst

My client providing IT outsourcing services for businesses and one of the lead suppliers for IT services to the MOD is looking for a permanent member to join as a Solution Analyst. You must have the ability to become fully SC level security cleared.

Role outline

The role has two primary functions:
Solution Design
Ÿ A solution analyst is required to gather and document information outlining the installation and user requirements for applications submitted by the client for migration to a managed infrastructure service. The analyst is then responsible for consulting with the Applications Migration workstream teams to produce a clearly documented plan for how the application is to be installed, packaged, deployed and supported.
Ÿ Analysts must have client facing ability, able to balance working with a large number of clients.
Ÿ Analysts needs to have strong diverse technical background with an understanding of range of legacy and current platforms ranging from Unix to Windows NT and 2003. The key characteristic though is the ability to absorb project specific technical information required for the production of application migration proposals.
Ÿ Analysts must able to manage and prioritise their work and pro-actively resolve issues whilst keeping their team leads, colleagues in other teams and managers up to date on the progress of their work.

Solution Test and Configuration
Ÿ Testing of application solutions to ensure compatibility with the managed service project and configuration and clampdown policy, prior to handover to the Project Support Office.
Ÿ Producing full compatibility test reports.
Ÿ Identifying generic and any site specific configuration mechanisms and ensuring that they are documented within the solution document.
Ÿ Provision of trusts and gateways for applications requiring reachback testing and trialling.

Essential Skills:

Windows 2003 - desktop and server
Unix
Windows XP, Word, Excel
Good communication skills both written and spoken.
Ability to resolving failures of applications to install onto Windows server and client machines.
Be a team player
Have a positive, can-do attitude

Desirable skills:

Windows NT
Experience of the following test tools:
Install Watch, Processmon, MS Application Compatibility Toolkit, TCPView, Wireshark.
